Might seem obvious, but what is the consequence (if any) of over-trimming a case, for example if trim length is 3.240 and one trims to 3.230? thanks! jorge

Hi Jorge:

One reason is that if your bullets have a crimping groove, you may miss the groove entirely and have a bad crimp. Especially if you are loading to the proper OAL of the desired cartridge.

If it is just one case, no big deal, if mutiple cases you readjust your seater die a hair and seat the bullet a hair deeper to hit the groove.

Big NE cases have greater margins when it comes to seating bullets.

I wouldn't change the seating depth. This would effect accuracy far more than the crimp quality at .010" difference. Seating depth is even more critical to accuracy than going up or down a grain of powder in these big cases.
