I bought a box of the Hornady .474 500 grain DGS solids. Is it safe to use the same starting point for the DGS powder charges as I did for the Woodleigh Solids?

Way back when I was lookong for loading data for Woodleighs, Woodleigh refferred me to the Hornaday manual and told me that I should start at Hornaday's starting loads and stick to Hornaday's book loads. (.458" softs and solids) That makes Woodleigh a substitute for Hornaday for load data, according to Woodleigh. I would seem logical that the reverse would be equally true. JPK ![]()

Starting point - yes. If you have a load worked out for the Woodleigh Solids, drop 10% and load up from there. A couple of cartridges in each load and you will soon work out what is what.
