as some of you know: I dont work for Heym, but the owner is an good friend of me and we go regulary hunting togehter.

Here I want to share with you some pictures of his new double, an dream double rifle.

It's gorgeous but I agree with you on the forearm. I think that I would cut the forearm back to end directly below where the sight rib ends on top.

- The caliber is .375 HH Flang.
- He is thinking about the shortening of the fore end too

An working-hour in Germany from an gunmaker-master costs ca. 80 euro.

Hi goal was: "To build a beautiful Heym double, in an perfect price-value-factor".
His buget was 20.000 Euro, the price was at the end: 22.000 Euro.

Of course he can go and uses the expensivst material and let it build.
But this is not his style.

He has watched over the years his friends, Mark and Ivan, C. und R., etc.
With T.T., with customers at shows, with chiefs of other companys...
What use this people?
He had trained with different methods and rifles (with other brands also) at the factory and in the range.

Then he make the decision.

This is the result.
His dream rifle.

Everything is in balance, the weight is perfect, the stock is fitted for him.

He uses this as his one-gun-rifle (he has only an shootgun -an Heym sidelock- as his second rifle) on every hunt.
(In Germany we have now the main-hunting-time.)

What is nice about rifles is that they are all a little different.They cannot all look exactly like this or that.

People do as people wish....if I was "the boss" I would rather pic a Heym Jumbo and make something classy and tasteful out of it.....I happen to like the Jumbo model though I think Heym build them a tad to light in the heavy calibres..

Hmmm...yes...a Jumbo in .500 or .577NE with color-case hardening and some tasteful scroll THEN we are talking..

OR a .600 NE....but keep it around 15 lbs please..

I agree that is a beautiful double and Heym builds a very fine rifle! However I agree with ozhunter on the fore-end.

I also know that the "Boss" of Heym, uses the FABULOUS Heym Model 26B O/U in 8x57R for smaller game in Germany.

The Heym Mod 26B is one great hunting rifle, for up to medium game.

I have one in 30/30 and I love it.
It is one of my favorite deer and wild pig rifles.

The biggest calibres it is offered in are 45/70 and 9,3x74R.

I would like to see Heyms forends shorter as well. But in looking at some of mine they would need to move their hanger and latch location to get it as short as many here suggest.

It is all an question of "the personal feeling".
You know, the most Heym are -stock to fit-, so everybody gets what he need / want.

For example:
The most hunters in the USA and England likes the "splinter forend", in Germany and Russia the "beavertail".

Normaly the "splinter forend" is 25 cm long, then you have 26 Inch long barrels (for the German hunters).

This Heym has 24 Inch barrels and the forend is 24 cm long.
My is also 24 Inch and has 22,5 cm...

Thanks for sharing Thomas’s boxlock action double. I like his taste in the amount of engraving he chose to have executed and his decision to have Max complete the color case hardening. The wood he selected is also very beautiful!

Beutiful. Shorter forend, longer barrel, .500NE and it would be perfect. Lovely rifle though.

That's a whole lot of DR for the Euro, especially with VAT figured in.

Gorgeous....I wouldn't change anything! But I have long arms and like a little longer splinter forend.

If I were to buy a Heym I would ask them to take the rear sights further back(red arrow) and the fronsight an inch back(blue arrow). The forearm must be a little shorter(black arrow)

You can order your Heym so, if you like.
No problem.

Also:
You can get over 10 different recoild pads (Pachmayr, Silver Pad, Akah, Wegu, Jagdfieber, pp.) in more than 6 different coulors (red, orange, brown, black, grey, pp.) in different dimensions, from 0,1 to 2,0 Inches...

Nooooo!

You get lack of accodomation when the rearsight is that close to your eyes!
That is no good idea.

We can put the rear sight where you like. We even offer a rear peep sight.

The rear sight closer to the front is for faster sight acquisition.

Just specify the distance you want between the two sight with your order, and we'll gladly accommodate. Max distance is 26".
