This is absolutly true. It's not like they push a button on a cnc and it spits out a double rifle. There is still plenty of hand finishing and fitting requiered for the final product. but still it is the cnc that has made it possible for manufacturers to build a double more affordable for us peasents. Cnc technolagy is used by the makers of the finest guns as well. It allows them more time to focus on the finer details like embelishments and product development making for better products in the end. This is yet another reason you can't compare vintage doubles to today's. DRSS NRA life AK Master Guide 124

Absolutely, AKshooter, There are three main reasons the Eastern Bloc countries can build a very well made working double rifle that shoots as well as some doubles that cost thousands more! It is the time saved by the CNC,which is saved by all makers, the cost of labor in the east that hasn't cought up with the west, and the lack of decoration, on the outside of the rifle. The fitting, in places where it counts, is properly done, and little or no time spent on dressing up with PIMPOLOGY! Result,is a reasonable price for a soild working rifle! None of this is to take away from the very excellent top of the line doubles, that command some very high prices. They are truely pieces of art, and are certainly things of beauty and pride, and in most cases are worth the prices they command, but some of the decoration, costs more than the cheaper doubles that shoot as well! As AKshooter says, however, good double rifles are not only made in one country, or the useable quality not determened only by price! ....Mac >>>===(x)===> MacD37, ...and DUGABOY1 DRSS Charter member "If I die today, I've had a life well spent, for I've been to see the Elephant, and smelled the smoke of Africa!"~ME 1982 Hands of Old Elmer Keith
