There's an awesome Winkler sidelock double in 338 on GB for anyone interested.

rikkochetIs that rust under the rearsight on the Winkler?
If it is, it should bring the price down.

Roscoe StephensonI have a .348 Win., but it is in a Winchester Model 71 Deluxe (where it should be).

Agreed. I have three of various grades but Browning. It just seems like it would be a nice caliber in a medium sized double.

boom stickRigby necked up the 348 to 358 and called it the 35 Rigby and put it in a double.

No.
Rigby had three 35 cal cartridges.
400-350 Nitro Express, 350 No2 Rigby, and 350 Rigby Magnum.
None of those cartridge cases have any connection whatsoever with the .348 Winchester.

boom stickI wish!
I just love the fact that Rigby made a cartridge from the 348 Winchester into 35, it just tickles me. So many people have clutched their pearls over this one

. I would not mind a lever action in 35 Rigby.

5seventyOh, so you were talking about California rigby?
Now that's pretty funny.
Hate to tell you, but a USA assembled Merkel chambered for some bastard cartridge called '35 rigby' (with wrong the headstamp) doesn't make it a RIGBY cartridge.

LHeym500Superior still list 35 Rigby in its catalog.
It is a California Rigby. I noticed the cartridge listed in the Superior catalog and started a thread about it. That is how we found the rifle posted by Boom Stick on the Internet.
Mauser has to buy California Rigby or at least the intellectual property rights from the Company that leased Rigby to Miller to bring Rigby home to London.
I believe someone here has a Marcel Thys double in .348 Win.

Bob NisbetIt's a great cartridge, but has limited options when it comes to bullet selection. 375 flanged seem more worldly a choice.

AtkinsonI like and have a 71 but Id much prefer my light double be a 9.3x74 or 375 Rimmed, etc. If I wanted funky Id opt for 250-3000, 25-35 or maybe a 30-40...

boom stickThe 35 Rigby is a great solution for limited bullet selection AND becomes more versatile with pistol, lever and rifle bullets.
