This afternoon Bwana Mjines and I went to the shooting range to break in my first double. Many thank to Ken for making this happen and aside from the cash outlay, the process was painless and seamless.

She is my first and it is really taking some getting use too however, with the help of my mentor Mike and another 100+ rounds, I should be in good shape for my upcoming trip to Zim with Charlton McCallum and team. I will be hunting tuskless and leopard in June.

She is a V-C 500 Nitro and seemingly fits me perfectly. My first couple of rounds were....well they found paper however, my last 4 at 25 yards were spot on. Accordingly, there is a direct correlation between being easy on the eyes and accuracy, a very deadly combination.

A couple of really dumb questions, do you guys name your doubles? Best tips for breaking her in? as she is stiff. Any other quick lessons learned would be appreciated. I am quit smitten by her...

Here are some pics..enjoy and happy new year to all, Bill

The rifle looks even better in person. The engraving is very tastefully done and the stock has been nicely stained with a distinct reddish hue so characteristic of the British double. The rifle comes up well, handles nicely and has good accuracy. All in all a very nice double rifle . . . and of course the caliber choice is superb. Cool

Congratulations my friend, nice rifle. I look forward to helping break her in.

Gorgeous.

Since I am new to DRs, and not all that familiar with VCs, might I ask what a rifle like that goes for $?

You did well, from the photo's it looks like attenion to detail is great. No sharp edges on the trigger guard, the stock is a beauty.

Well done

If I've seen a prettier rifle I don't remember it.

Please don't take it on safari.

Rifles get the sh*t beat out of them; scratches, dings, etc. Just putting the rifle on shooting sticks dings the foregrip.

Messing up this rifle would be a mortal sin---you will not go to heaven.

For all of us, please get some cheap 2nd hand Merkel and pretend you're using this gun.

Then after the safari you can return home to continue fondling this beauty.

Just my 2 cents.
