Nice rifle congratulations.

I just love the wood & the colour on the barrel.

The CCH is the modern type and looks good too.

Every weekend has either been super busy or raining cats and dogs since I received the new HEYM double. Today (Christmas), I thought I should take her out and begin the process of getting acquainted. I prefer a slower methodical method with big bores so the experiences are positive and ever building. For me at least, this approach seems to help minimize the potential to build bad habits (which is really easy to do with big bores). So for today it was just two shots off-hand at the 1" red dot as the snow was starting to lightly fall. I think this HEYM will be a fine shooter!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year,
Shawn

Excellent shooting. Great looking Heym. A great way to express yourself (sorry, couldn't resist).

Michael J, just order the Heym to your Holland dimensions then trade that old Holland to me for, maybe a truck or something...? You won't need it with the Heym!

Thanks Dutch44…Nothing wrong at all with beautiful vintage English doubles! I do not believe you can beat the value and craftsmanship of the modern HEYM double rifle when you come to know all that it offers! I hope you can convince Mike to make that trade! My bet would be that Mike holds on to his vintage Holland and buys the HEYM to see if he enjoys it. :0)

You are probably correct EYS, as I know Mike and we both share a passion for the graceful lines and balance of the old English masters. However, that is in no way to detract from the Heym in quality and features.

I will agree with Mike in his assessment of the correct lines of the forearm. I have this thing about the correct dimensions for that splinter forearm and the continuity it provides to the lines of a great rifle.

I think HEYM was wise to begin offering the forearm length option on their side by side doubles to meet their customer’s specific needs and preferences. I think HEYM will see that the option is well received!

The factory is in Germany, on the border to the former east-part.
In "Gleichamberg", please look in google.

It is open from monday to friday and you can visit it. It is very intersting to see the working process by hand and with wood and steel "only".

You can select your specific wishes, like engraving, lengh, wood-class, pp. And you can shoot some different models and calibers of course...

I think new guy (chris) can make you an date.
:-)

Best wishes.

The "B.

gorgeous rifle.

I think the rear of action along with the "top rear" (where the cocking indicators are) spoils the lines of the gun.

The sidelocks, to me, are attractive.......with the exclusion of the aforementioned "top rear" of the action.......as the sidelocks/plates deal with back of the action. A "fancy back" treatment of this area would break up it's squareness better.

Trying to get English racy lines on a boxy looking Germanic gun is a effort thwarted from the beginning.

But that's just my opinion........ and I realise it's all a matter of one's personal taste.

I hope the new owner really enjoys it.

I used to dislike the lines of the Heym's. Now the more I'm around double rifles the more i cant get enough of the Heym's.

If you’re in Germany you definitely need to take time out to tour the factory and perhaps shoot a few rifles. I have toured the factory several times while traveling and I never tire of the experience! Be sure to schedule a visit.
