Bought a condo at Panama City Beach FL a year ago. I’ve resisted the temptation for a year but finally broke down 2 days ago and bought a boat to use both off shore and in the bay here. Ordered a Pathfinder 2700 Open powered by a Yamaha XTO 425. Won’t be built until early March due to high demand at the factory but at least I will get exactly what I want. Now I feel like a kid awaiting Christmas.

I looked at the 26 HPS but I wanted something with more cockpit and less casting deck front and rear. Plus I typically run 30-40 miles offshore and bigger( and heavier) is better if the weather kicks up.

I had never heard of that boat before, so I checked it out. What a great boat! Very well thought out, designed and built to last. You done good!

I did the build-a- boat thing on their website and was satisfied with the price of a fully loaded rig. I took the spec sheet to the local dealer and asked him what he thought. Greatly surprised and pleased when he told me the actual price would be $36,000 less out the door than the MSRP.

How do you keep a boat "safe" for the lack of a better word, if you are not there all the time?

Simple. It stays in a massive warehouse stacked 5 high on racks. Warehouse holds several hundred boats. I call them when I am driving down to Panama City Beach and they launch the boat with a gigantic fork lift and tie it up in a slip at the marina. It’s ready to go when I arrive. I leave it in a slip until I’m ready to go home, then they haul it out with the forklift. They will fuel it before storage if I ask. Nothing to do but get on the boat and fish. I only live 2 3/4 hours from the beach so we spend at least 3-4 days a week in the condo from March to November and shorter stays during the winter.

Sweet boat! Like how you worked out a plan to store it. No more towing and it will be in the water when you get there. That boat should be perfect for 2-4 people. I miss fishing out of ocean boat when we lived in Alaska. Every time wife sees me looking at bay boats she just says NO, lol.

My biggest fear is when I die my wife will sell my guns for what I told her they cost.

I didn’t even order a trailer, as I don’t intend to tow it anywhere and it saved over $8000. A friend has the identical boat he just ordered with a trailer and if need be, I can use his.

Finally!! After 2 delays due to supply( especially Yamaha motor) shortages my boat is being built this week. Should have it well before the red snapper season opens in mid June. dancing

Caught it in Panama City Beach FL, where my condo and boat is. There we have a slot limit- 18” to 27” may be kept. The area where we fish in the bay generally only has oversized fish. Almost never catch a slot fish so it’s catch and release. But the bull red fishing with crabs on an outgoing tide is pretty much a sure thing. Most of the fish are 25-35 lbs with an occasional 40+ lbs. Great fun.
