July 4th weekend my sister, brother in law and myself went to the Mississippi River and put out 4 trotlines. Caught 12 catfish, the biggest about 50 lbs (didn't have a scale to weigh it). My sister gave away 3 of the blue's to a coworker.

Here is a pic of the big one. I am 6'1 for reference.

Yesterday July 14th I made a trip to the Little River between Jena and Jonesville, LA to catch a few crappie. Caught 25 on blue grass slab slayer's 5 ft deep in and around tree tops.

That is some of the finest eating right there! Wish we had better crappie fishing here in Oregon. Have to drive for several hours to get to good channel cat water.

Crappie fillet and hush puppy.

Ok, hold the hush puppies, I will FORCE myself to eat filets only if you insist.

Bluegrass Slab Slayer a local lure/jig? I will Net search for it when I log off of AR. Is this it?

"Peace is that brief glorious moment in history when everybody stands around reloading" - Thomas Jefferson

Every morning the Zebra wakes up knowing it must outrun the fastest Lion if it wants to stay alive. Every morning the Lion wakes up knowing it must outrun the slowest Zebra or it will starve. It makes no difference if you are a Zebra or a Lion; when the Sun comes up in Africa, you must wake up running......

"If you're being chased by a Lion, you don't have to be faster than the Lion, you just have to be faster than the person next to you."

Yes. I use the 2" version. That was the first time for me to catch them on blue grass. I normally use chartreuse or gumdrop to start with.
