In Brittany last week I decided to take a quick boat trip to some islands just off the coast of the town called Perros-Guirec. It was foggy and the seas were not at all calm. Terrible conditions to take pictures of the birds we expected to see. I learned that the Razorbill is considered to be the rarest bird found on French soil and Puffins are almost never seen. With its six-foot wingspan, the Northern Gannet is the largest seabird to nest in France. A Razorbill and some Puffins: The Northern Gannet: I used a Nikon D7000 with a Nikkor 300m AF-S f/4 lens. The boat was rocking so much I'm surprised I was even able to get any birds in the frame. I had to take dozens of photos just to get two that aren't too blurry from motion or out of focus (thank you Nikon for 1/8000th of a second). Should you ever visit Brittany I highly recommend this two and a half hour excursion to see some rare and beautiful birds that few ever see. _________________________________ AR, where the hopeless, hysterical hypochondriacs of history become the nattering nabobs of negativisim.

Very interesting. How close to them could you get? ALLEN W. Most of these were taken at between 20 and 40 yards. We were on a boat and the seas weren't very calm. _________________________________ AR, where the hopeless, hysterical hypochondriacs of history become the nattering nabobs of negativisim.
