Got my 25 Souper all together and it's a good shooter.
For a barrel I used a 25/06 Rem. takeoff and cut 1 1/2 ins. off the chamber end. I am well pleased with the groups and m.v. from it's 22 1/2in. barrel.
Loads:
75 gr. Sierra, 43.5grs- IMR4895--3570fps. 3- 3 shot groups averaged 11/16ins.

87 gr. Speer, 47.5grs- IMR4831--3308fps. 2-3shot groups- both 1in.

100gr.Hornady-46grs-IMR4350--3045fps. 2-3shot groups-1 1/2 & 1 5/8ins.

120gr. Speer GS- 44.5grs-H4831--2865fps. 2-3 shot groups-
both 1in.

It put all the loads to the same point of impact at 100yds., at's nice.
Overall it seems to be a nice shooting mild 25cal. that I enjoyed shooting.

I'm happy to hear this. And happy for you.

I have a Rem mod 600 I've been thinking about making into a .257 Durham Jet or .25 Souper but need to keep it on a tight budget. A takeoff barrel may just be the ticket.

Hey BigNate, whats your 600 chambered for now? If it's .243 consider doing a simple rebore to .25 and there's your Souper! You get to keep your original barrel and save a pile of money. The standard 25 Souper is a great cartridge and should feed like a greased weiner. The Durham Jet sure looks cool but dies will cost you more, you'll need chamber work and you'll have to fire form cases. I had a rebore done by Bob West in Springfield Ore...cost was $200. BT53

On my Souper project I looked for the dies frist. On classifides on another I was lucky enough to find a CH fl Souper die for $25. A friend had a Lee 250/3000 seater which has a huge cavity for the body of the case and works perfect for the Souper, I traded him a box of 22mags.
I then lucked into a takeoff barrel for $40.
Shawn Thomlison, of Craigmont, Idaho rethreaded and rechambered the barrel for $100 so that makes $165 total. Not too bad.

I noticed on another board in a thread on the Souper that you have a couple of med. lenght Sakos. I also have 2 and as a matter of fact the 25 Souper is built on one. It's a M57, same as the L579 except the saftey is on the bolt.
Also I am thinking of a syn. stock for the .25 and Mr. HighTeck told me a Howa S.A. stock will work on the med. lenght Sako action-they weigh only 20ozs. Pedro

Pete in Idaho...All be darn, I didn't know that. I've always wanted to put a syn stock on the .243 for varmit shooting. Something I could paint camo color and not worry about scraping on the rocks. I'll have'ta check with my smith and see if he knows of any take-offs, maybe ebay will have some, but I'd like to bolt the action in to see how it fits before buying. Thanks I appretiate the heads up! BT53

As soon as samples of the experimental T65 (308 Win) cartridge got out it was necked up and down to everything. The 25 Souper was one of those. Before that Warren Page and Fred Huntington had already been loading 6mm wildcats on various cases including the 257 Roberts.

Page named one of his wildcats the 243 Souper Pooper and it caught on. Later a similar round was comercialized by Winchester as the 243 and the sales of .25's were overshadowed since then.
