Well I never did get to try the Noslers out on a pig, one never came along. Had one hell of a trip however and would go back in a heart beat.

I finally got to test the performance of the 70 grain NBT's on something bigger than a paper target and plastic bottles. I took a little pronghorn buck today at 300 yards with it. Full frontal shot bullet penetrated and blew up both lungs and showed some fragmentation into the heart.

I think 300 yards is about the limit of the 6x47 on game larger than varmints. This has been a satisfying project and it has turned out better than I expected for a rifle I put together on my own. Anyway I've scratched that itch to try this rifle out on something a Little larger than prairie dogs.

Great to hear a positive result for your project.
However, I have always been too nervous to shoot NBT Varminters in my 6x45.
What is your verdict on hunting small deer with them?
I see you also chose the 70 gr over the 80 gr.

I had a beer with Snellstrom and his brother Thursday evening and he said you smacked one. Good on ya!

Sorry you couldn't make it out to smack one with me... Had that baby yet?

As far as the performance of the bullet I can't complain. It pentrated far enough to do the damage necessary to put my goat down quickly. I didn't search too hard for the bullet, it was hot and I had to hurry to get the meat to a cooler. Wished I would have had more time to look for it.

Good thing is it dumped all of its velocity quickly. None of the bullet or fragments made it to the paunch so cleaning wasn't a messy ordeal. I'd like to see what it can do on a broadside shot, have to see what I can do on my late season doe hunt and get back to you.
