| A few early ones had 14" twists as they apparently used the .222 barrels in stock. Most had the 12" twist Had one and regret getting talked out of it. I used to rechamber the .222s to .223 for several guys. All the 14" twist M788s were very accurate using the 55 gr SX and the Speer 52 gr Hps. All had 24" barrels back then also.

| Gumboot. Don't know about the 65gr, but mine shoots the Hornady 60gr HP quite well.

| Pardon me pointing out the obvious, but barrel twist isn't a hard thing to measure. How many times does an object spin in a foot of travel down the bore? Measure and you will know. Guessing based on hearsay makes about as much sense as guessing caliber without slugging it.
No offense intended but you could figure it out for yourself in a few minutes with a cleaning rod and a patch. |
