|  The trigger on the Stevens if honed by hand ( 1/2 hr. ) would be just fine for hunting. It is in fact the Savage trigger prior to the accutrigger. There are a couple of replacement triggers designed to be used on the Savage. The Savage owners web sites will give you a lot of info.  roger

| My Stevens trigger was a typical out of the box factory trigger similar to my Rmeingtons etc... It was about 5 lbs and was crsip but had some creep.
I adjusted the weight down to 3 pounds and honed the seer in about an hour. It shoots 1/2" groups with a crisp pull and no creep. |

| i put a pre-accutrigger model from sharpshooter supply in mine. it's drop-in and wonderful set at just over 2lb.
