xm15e2m46.5 CREEDMOOR ?
Is there any info out there other than what is in the '08 Hornady book. I found that DPMS is making a rifle in it, but no one is doing a bolt or single-shot that I can find.
I follow Rule #62.

Kimber.204I've been doing a couple of internet searches every week, hoping for more information. I haven't seen any more than what you stated. Hornady hasn't given any more information, DPMS has a rifle listed, and Midway has ammunition listed as "coming soon". I sure hope it hits the market. I think it would be a great silhouette shooting round. And with the factory ammo, it could be used in both Standard and Hunting Rifle classes.
Hope to find out more soon. You could always get a Savage or Stevens and make one, I'm considering that.
Good Luck

seafire2Essentially it is a slightly shortened 260 Rem Case, with supposedly a small rifle primer pocket...
the 6 BR web site had some info on it...
primary purpose was to fit a 6.5 into an AR, and not go with the Russian case aka the 6.5 Grendel...

xm15e2m4Savage will also chamber models in calibers they don't have in the standatd offering but I bet they dont have reamers for this yet. Guess I could use it as an excuse to get another black rifle. But was really just wanting something to burn less powder than my 25-06 and get a little better sectional density and B.C.. Maybe I should just get a .260 Rem.

nordrsetaLooks like a not so subtle knock-off of the 6.5x47 Lapua to me. One hopes the brass will be less expensive.

6.5BRGo to snipershide.com and search, Zak Smith, comp shooters knows a good deal about it-experience, and also 6mmbr.com, go to 6.5 forum.
Hope it helps.

killsoftThere's a bit of info on Zak Smith's website here:
http://demigodllc.com/ Specifically, see
6.5mm Shootout: .260 Remington vs. 6.5x47 Lapua vs. 6.5 Creedmoor He also lists an upcoming article in Shotgun News, entitled "6.5 Creedmoor - .260 Done Right?".

Nice articles. Thanks for the links. Perhaps a knockoff of the Lapua isn't such a bad thing. Now to choose...

6.5BRBrass now about $100 per 100 on the Lapua, makes the Creedmore and std 260 look even better......

boom stickIsn't the 260 AI the best option?
20 February 2008, 06:23
Papa 260IMHO, yes the 260AI is the best option. I REALLY like it.

xm15e2m4Hate to ask instead of looking into it myself, but what are average velocities on the AI with 140 gr projectiles.
I follow Rule #62.

Zak SmithDownside to 6.5-08 AI / 260AI is that there is more prep work involved and each case has to be fireformed. For some types of shooting, this isn't a problem. For someone who wants to load up 500 rounds for a series of matches, it can be a huge pain.

May we presume you are the Zal Smith, author of the articles we're discussing?

Zak SmithThe same.

Papa 260If you are using the 140 gr. class bullets try the following loads.
Some where around 43.6 gr. of H4350 with a CCI BR 2 primer in Remington brass will give 2850 to 2870 accurate fps in a 26" barrel.
Some where between 48.0 to 48.5 gr. of H4831 SC with a Fed. 210M primer in fire formed Rem. brass will give about 2920 to 2950 fps in a 26" barrel.
Neither of these loads show any pressure in my Krieger barrel. I have used both in 1K matches with excellent results. I know of several long range shooters using the same loads. Hope this helps some.
