My h/b Tikka .22/250 Super Sporter is from the same stable and shoots beautifully with 55 gn bullets (V-Max and fmj) with 38.4 gn of H380. I've tried 60 gn bullets and they simply don't stabilise. I've tried 50 gn V-Max and they appear to group equally well. As I shoot in a windy area, my preference is for the heavier bullet. I'm about to experiment with Varget, not because I'm dissatisfied with the H380 but just because I've got some doing nothing. ------------------

okie- 34 IMR or H4895 w/55 grain bullet is about a universal 22-250 accuracy load. Fed. Premium brass and F210M primer. re5513 - It looks like you have a really FAST lot of H380. The Hodgdon book calls for a max of 41 H380 and 3700 FPS with a 55 grainer in a 24" barrel. I've gotten to 3750 with 41 grains H380/55 Nos. B-Tip, in a 26" barrel, and over 3800 w/52 Hdy. BTHP and 41.5 grains H380. Both loads were very accurate. R-WEST ------------------

I load with AA1680 powder in 32-20 and .22"K"Hornet. 32-20 loads are: 115gr cast plain base, 14 gr. @ 1,650 fps. 100gr. Hornady XTP, 15 gr. @ 1,800 fps. Starline cases are the best by far, but have slightly less capacity andshow lightly higher pressure than Win. or Rem cases. I use small pistol primers from Win. In "K"Hornet I have not had good luck with the lighter bullets retaining accurascy, bucking wind, and hitting hard past WMR ranges. ------------------

dave3220 - I've noticed a similar thing with the Small Pistol primers, at least in the Hornet. It seems they provide a 'softer' start for things in the smallish Hornet case. I know Hornets can be very finicky, and the one I was working with in a 340 Savage definitely grouped better after switching primers. R-WEST

Any of you Sako or Tikka 22-250 owners tried to establish COAL by seating bullets out to almost touch the lands?? I tried my Sako & neibourghs Tikka & found by the time you get close to the lands the bullets bout ready to fall out of the case!!! They sure seemed to have deep throats in them!!

Try 36.6 gr. Varget behind a 50 gr. Hornady V-Max with a CCI Benchrest primer. This laod has shot in most of my .22-250 rifles. My Weayherby SVM will place 5 shots @ 100 yds. under a 1/2 inch. I do however shoot the V-Max molycoated.
