I've tried 60 gn bullets and they simply don't stabilise. I've tried 50 gn V-Max and they appear to group equally well. As I shoot in a windy area, my preference is for the heavier bullet.
I'm about to experiment with Varget, not because I'm dissatisfied with the H380 but just because I've got some doing nothing.

I had good luck with moly coated 55gr. Hornady V-Max bullets, 40.1 gr. H414, and Fed 215M primers. Good velocity (for the factory 23 3/4" barrel) and good accuracy. Used this load to send many a prairie dog to the great beyond.
In my rifle 37.5 gr. of H380 and a Sierra 52 gr. BTHP matchking was about max and only produced just under 3500 fps in velocity. Accuracy was good though.
Good luck.
re5513 - It looks like you have a really FAST lot of H380. The Hodgdon book calls for a max of 41 H380 and 3700 FPS with a 55 grainer in a 24" barrel.
I've gotten to 3750 with 41 grains H380/55 Nos. B-Tip, in a 26" barrel, and over 3800 w/52 Hdy. BTHP and 41.5 grains H380. Both loads were very accurate.

In "K"Hornet I have not had good luck with the lighter bullets retaining accurascy, bucking wind, and hitting hard past WMR ranges.
I load 45 gr. Hornet bullets from Speer or bought in bulk from Rem. and Win.
I load 13 to 13.8 gr. of 1680 depending on which rifle. This betters factory ballitics by a 100 fps or so, but the cases last and the rifles shoot better if I don't try to turn them into a .222.
I have noticed longer case life and a hair's better accurascy from a tight "K" chamber.
Also Win. pistol primers seem to give a bit better accurascy.
Anybody have similar experience?

I've noticed a similar thing with the Small Pistol primers, at least in the Hornet. It seems they provide a 'softer' start for things in the smallish Hornet case. I know Hornets can be very finicky, and the one I was working with in a 340 Savage definitely grouped better after switching primers.
