What's the volume of a remington 221 FB case? (Factory made brass)

Is there anyone who has measured the volume of brass formed from other cases? That piece of info may be helpful as well.

I can't answer your question specifically but I know that 19.5 gr. of RL7 fills the case to the top. No room for more with out packing it in there.

I want to know how much volume is reduced when forming cases from .222 brass so that I can adjust data accordingly.
.221 FB factory brass is quite hard to come across in my part of the world. So is Alliant powder. Thank you anyway.

I need more input. Could anyone spare a little water and time.

1) Weigh an empty case.
2) Fill it to the top with water and put it on the balance again.
3) Subtract "1" from "2". Using the metric system one gram of cold (+4C) water equals 1 ml.

That was the method I used to make measurements on the .221 cases I've formed from .222 brass:
Parent case: Lapua: 1,422ml
Parent case: Norma: 1,466ml

"Parent case: Lapua: 1,422ml"

This is very close to the advertised avg. of 1.43cc for the .221

The avg. .223 =1.87cc

The avg. .222 =1.68cc roger

I just weighed an empty Remington .221 REM FB case with a dead CCI primer in it and it was trimmed to 1.395 inches!
It weighed 83.5 grains (empty)
Filled with water, it weighed 107.0 grains
The difference equaled 23.5 grains!

I'm not real good with the metric system, but I hope this helps you out!

That's just a different way to measure it. Your way (probably a better and more useful measure of case capacity) the Lapua case would measure about 1,29 ml.
