JUST BOUGHT A REM 597 .17 HMR AND IT WILL FIRE ABOUT 6 OUT OF 10 RIM FIRES.I HAVE SHOT ABOUT 200 ROUNDS THROUGH IT. HAD 1 BULLET I TRIED 4 TIMES TO FIRE AND IT WOULDN'T FIRE,FIRING PIN HIT IT ON ALL 4 CORNERS.ANY SUGGESTION BEFORE I SHIP IT BACK TO REMINGTON? | ||

Quite possibly it is the ammo. This kind of problem is impossible to deduce over the internet. Take it to your local smith and let him sort it out. -Spencer | |||

I have had a number of 597's returned with that problem. It is often due to excessive headspace. Don't bother your local gunsmith with this, let(rather demand) Remington take care of their screw up.
