i have a m77 ruger not to old maybe 200 rnds threw it.have used barnes x-seirra-- rem factory loads-win -feds.when i go to clean it. i can never get a absolutely white patch out of it.they are always some what black. used sweets kroil oil-jb-compound.some copper traces but they go but still patches come out with black on them.shoudnt they come clean. what gives any ideas will be[ app]. thank you festus | ||

Every time you used JB compound, your patch will come out completely black, because it is a metal polish. Try JB on a piece of bare steel that you know is squeaky clean, and you will see what happens. I quit when the wet patches come out clean. I use a wrap around jag for most cleaning, except for the last couple of dry patches. For those I use a pierce jag, and the patch fits very tightly in the bore. With those pierce jags, I always get a little bit of black, but it is not worth doing anything about it. The bore is clean enough. | |||
