257 STW - Why Did I?
I came across a Ruger #1 in 257STW. It greyed with flutes and customized wood, fired less than 50 rounds with dies and brass included and I couldn't resist. Now here I sit wondering what the F am I gonna do with a Hot f*&^en Tomale? Anyone else run into these kinds of problems? Anyone have a good starting load for 110 grain Accubonds?

No help here.
I acquired one from a friends widow. It was a sako action custom gun. He shot 100 grain ballistic tips at close to 4000.
When I got it the throat was shot out.
I had it re barreled to 257 WBY and have a very accurate gun that takes antelope and deer at most any range under 500 yards.

I have and love a 257 STW. It's on it's 4th barrel.

Barrel life really isn't that bad, I actually shoot it quite a bit. This barrel is at just over 1500 rounds, and still shoots very well (do have a replacement on order though). However, if you try to run 100gr bullets at 4000 fps, your barrel life will be nil, as will brass life and maybe your life.

I have not shot any 110gr accubonds yet, but have a couple boxes set aside to try. I've been waiting on the release of RL33 before I start any serious testing.

So far I have had best luck with RL25 and Ramshot Magnum, with bullets in that weight range.

I got bit years ago and built a 6.5 x 300 Roy. It's fast, fun, shoots well and looks cool. I won a free lunch at 500 meters at the club one day. Today, it mostly stays in the safe. Have fun w/ it.
On another note, CAS II, can you tell us a/b RL 33 ?

Use it as a hunting gun...test it out at longer ranges, then save the barrel for killing things. Barrel will last years then.

Love shooting precision and long range. Big bores too!

Recent college grad, started a company called MK Machining where I'm developing a bullpup rifle chassis system.

I finally got to going through all the stuff I got with the gun and I'm feeling better about it. The fellow copied and laminated everything he ever found on the 257STW and there is alot of information. load data, load testing, tons of unfired sized brass, and from what I can gather it looks like the rifle has had 45 rounds down the tube, give or take. He also included his left over loaded ammo with complete documentation. Can't wait to get to the range now. It looks like it should not be too much to ask to get an Accubond to 3500fps+.
