My brother has an MRC shoots great with factory 270 WSM ammo, but I was curious if it is more difficult to size WSM brass. I would suspect it would, but that is a theory, anyone want to comment how it compares to other ctg's?

My 270 WSM was at first tough to resize, or at ateast harder than my other guns. After I FL Resized I started neck sizing. DO NOT neck size. After about two firing with the brass, it would not chamber with neck sizing. I FL size everything now and have not had one lick of problems. But after the first or second firing I have had no problems.

I have had issues with Winchester brass. I switched to Remington and it is much better. It is more uniform and pretty close to the Norma brass.

My issues with the WW brass was inconsistents lengths, primer pockets and neck thickness. I had several after 2 firings the primer pockets gave barely enough resistince to hold the primer, they were not hot loads.

it's such a fat mother of a case, that it takes more pressure to resize. I see the same thing on my Dillon SDB's in 38spl and 45LC. Just another quirk in the design.

I cannot pinpoint the exact situation in the past, but something happened once when I was sizing some cases for something and the sizing force was MUCH greater for whatever reason and I had a hunch, as well as heard inklings that the WSM was tougher to size.

It sounds to be true. Thanks. My brother's rifle shoots well with factory loads so he may just need to stick with a few sighters and go hunting. It was interesting to hear Rem brass quality may be better, as often you hear the opposite. There are no absolutes, but there are trends in specific situations, favorite brass brand, powder, even bullets and primers in given ctg's. Nice to have a resource of wisdom, a wealth of info on this forum.

Thanks Rich.
