Anybody know anything about this cartridge? I have read some interesting things about it. For example, uses power more efficiently than the .17 Rem and is easier on barrels. Anybody know how it's formed. What is the parent brass.

You need info on the 17's,you have a great gun smith right there in ANC. Homer Strickland.Accurays Arms,He builds some really nice guns. Also has some wildcat rounds in that cal. Has all the very good reloading stuff, All machines are CNC. Lilja barrels on hand. Give hime a call.He up on the hillside off of diamond blvd. You will be impressed!
I have one built out of an XP-100R switch barrel and it is my favorite cartrige. My barrel is a 700 take off (all of which I have found are stainless, I have 2 other ready if I shoot this one out)You can load this from 1000fps to 4000fps.my favorite is a barrel I had cut to 18" I can get it to 3800fps. With 335 I can load from 14gr to 19.5 and bullet impact is within 1/2 from highest to lowest at 100. It can be like having a reloadable HRM. I take new 221 brass thru a 221fl die without the expander, then run it thru MKIV fl die, It shoots these very well but a little better after being fired once It likes 20 gr VMax

I don't know if it's more efficient but alot of fun to shoot. I've been shooting that round for a long time now and my present one is a rem 700 with a shilen barrel. I've use 221 fireball also 222 and 223 cases. It's not as fast as the 17 rem nor 17/222. I've never owned one but thing the 17 hornet or bee might be better on barrels. Only problem here in Co is the wind. Well good luck! Tom

Rob, another Anchoragite has a one in a 14" tube for his contender. It pushes 25 gr bullets 3600 fps. His is set up to use rimmed brass, and he forms them from 360 DW cases, though as mentioned, the parent case is the 221 fireball. It is a neat little round, no recoil, and quite accurate.
Not too long ago, handloader had an article on it. Send me an e-mail to remind me, and I'll make you a copy of the article.
