Tom I shoot a .257 AI version and have superior results with the R22 and heavy bullets. I would think that the regular Bob might like it as well as pressures are or should be on the mild side. I use both types of primers depending upon environmental conditions, temperature that is. My Hart tube is 25" in length and gives me 3050 ft/sec's with the Accubond 110. While RL22 might work well IMO it's a tad slow.....I really like mag primers and H-414 in the Bob. /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// "Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery." I have 2 robeerts rifles. My little Ruger RL is a feather weight carbine, and Untill recently, the only load it liked was The barnes tripple shock over H-414. I use 46 grains and it gives me 3140 and groups right around MOA. MY other roberts is a custom springfield, and it likes IMR-4350 And IMR=4064 , but I did try RL-22 with a 120 grain Hornady hollow point, and My Charge was 44.5, grains. It was quite accurate I had a 3 shot group at .75 and a second at 1.15.My notes state that the paper targer was blowing in the wind making my group open up a bit so I bet both groups would have been sub MOA. Sorry did not chroney. ...tj3006 freedom1st

RL 22 should be excellent with the Roberts. I haven't owned one in years, but when I did I was using original surplus 4831 with all bullet weights down to 90 grains. The old 4831, which is nearly as slow (and less dense) than RL 22 did an excellent job with my gun. RL 22 has a reputation for variation from lot to lot, even the slowest lots should do just fine in your gun, particularly with bullets above 100 grains.

My experience with RL22 is short, but it showed excellent accuracy. 257 Roberts does well with Sierra 117gr. and Combined Technology 115 gr. bullets. I don't load to the max. shown on th eAlliant website, but close. Having no chronograph, I have to take the manufacturer's word for velocity.

I've been shooting Re19 in my Roberts, and have been pleased with it. 117 grn Hornady interlock, 47grn Re 19, .6" @100yrds. I would be shooting Re 22, but they were out and only had Re 19 on the shelf.

Strikes me as the new RL 17 would be a more balanced choice of powder in the Roberts..

IMR-4350 has always been a wonderful powder for the 257 Roberts and R-17 is supposed to closely match the burning rate of IMR-4350 but with added velocity. I bought a pound of R-17 and am going to start trying to work up a Roberts load with it this weekend. I'll pass along what I find. "Don't interfere with anything in the Constitution.
