I have one of these in 243. It says Harrington and Richardson on the side of the receiver. Are barrels interchangeable? Current barrel is 243. Looking for a 22LR. Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks.

remington bought HR years ago, and ended the barrel swap program, and trigger jobs, shortly there after .. what is sorta kinda left is a joke.

there isn't a CF to RF available, new, today, from HR.

safety note.. NEVER install a CF rifle barrel on a shotgun frame - there was a caveat that HR might would do it, i forgot what the language was around the "ultra" actions, however, it is UNSAFE to put a CF barrel on a shotgun frame ...

i played with these as a poor man's TC, way back before the interwebs

Jeff, what kind of accuracy does your .223 barrel give?
I never did mess with the .223 or .243 in the Handi-rifle platform because I heard of a lot of accuracy issues.
I did play with their Buffalo Classic in .45-70 and a similar rifle in .38-55, which I wish I had kept.
I also had the .45 Colt carbine, and very foolishly trade it off.

my rifle action went to HR for their trigger job, which halved the group size .

about 1.25" in the 223 with "just about any" 3 shot .. some times better, sometimes not.. got it and an youth stock for the kids to learn to shoot, as it has the heavy barrel. a friend made me a 7.62x39 barrel .. which also shot 2" or less, but was a blast

i would have paid good money for the 45 colt!!!

Mic McPhierson has a lot of info on accurizing handi rifles in his book on accurizing factory rifles. Lots of good info in that book, in general. His reloading book has lots of good info, as well.

Over on marlinowners.com they have whole section on NEF/H&R rifles, shotguns and black powder.
There might be some info on there that may help.
