Has anyone used a 6.5 X 284 in a short action with a 2.8" magazine? Any problems with bullet seating etc.

There have been previous comments on this forum about this . Some suggest that you should use a long action so as not to be restricted in OAL when using longer bullets.I can't see going to less than 140 , it's the ideal weight for this and the 6.5x55.

Why not go to a 260 imp? Dies are fairly standard now, and you'll pick up that 100 fps with ease. I've had one since long before there was a 260 and love it, 3100 with 120's is my favorite deer load.

Yes it's an option. One might question why this came up and the Freudian slip has not been revealed.

This 260 just does not fit into where I hunt and 100 fps will not turn the corner.

For now the rifle is going into the varmint catagory.

OK, I am going to confess. It shot 95 VMaxs well and it will not score as well as the .358's here with game bullets. That's the problem.
