Anyone know of a good starting load for an encore with a factory bull barrel?

I can't speak for the Encore but my #1 Ruger likes 100 grain Noslers and IMR4831 powder. I use 56.0 grains, but you should work up to a load that hot.

cheers!

m1rage - I've had a heck of a time with mine
until this past weekend. Got it in the first
place to shoot 75gr bullets, but it wouldn't
shoot ANY bullet MOA, or even less than 3
inches! After making a cast molding of the
chamber, found that T/C had reamed over .003
too deep!

There were other things wrong too, but too
little and time & space here to explain it
all. Possibly the best thing done for it was
to wildcat .270 cases, trimming to 25/06
length and necking down JUST the point they
would fit into the chamber, leaving a false
shoulder. A little force is actually needed
to close the action.

One guy suggested that if I wanted to use
the 75gr V-Max, to use 51gr of RE-15, but
I cut that down to 49gr, and seated the
bullets the full length of the neck,
disregarding "kissing" the lands or figuring
so many thousandths off the lands. This load
got me a 7/16" group. If I hadn't jiggled
on one shot, it would have been closer to
5/16".
