I learned early-on that triggers are the Savage weak point. I have seven Savage/Stevens variants
all of which wear SSS competition triggers and all are sub-MOA shooters.bartsche, I feel your pain.

I have never felt the need to get the accutrigger. Every factory non-accutrigger that I own on a savage is right around 3lb. No creep or over travel either. All that it requires is a safety pin, a grinding stone, fine grit sand paper, and a buffing wheel.

I either clean up the old style Savage triggers or put in the Sharp Shooter Supply competition triggers.

+1

Cost $97 plus postage in 2010. Great trigger. Much prefer it to the accu-trigger. (The accutrigger is really no different to the older trigger, it just has an intercepting sear so that you can set the sear engagement quite low and have a safety system in case it slips)

Roger, order it directly from Sharp Shooter Supply or from Midway for less than $100. It takes about 15 minutes to install yourself with the provided directions.

I'm famous for putting gunsmith's kids through private colleges when I do my own gunsmithing and I've installed three with no problems.

Amen!

My lightly worked old two screw trigger is FAR better than any AccuTrigger I've ever tried and is on par with any trigger I've ever used.

shockeryou close the bolt and the sear does not engage. This is what the problem was when I originally sent it back for repair and it still is the problem. thumbdownroger

I took my one and only Savage, a Mdl 10 Precision (Police) Carbine in .223, to africa last September after zeroing at the range and a bit of practice with it. It has the AccuTrigger and AccuStock. I've never had any kind of problem with its functioning. I did return it to Savage due to inconsistent grouping. It was returned after they checked and adjusted it - not sure what they did, maybe a new barrel? - but it shoots better now.

I have no issues with the AccuTrigger.

Roger - If the problem still exists I would get Savage on the phone and return the rifle again, at their expense, and demand the problem be corrected. Better than complaining on the internet. Good luck.

thumbdown This isn't just a complaint ! It was meant to see how wide spread the problem was and also get some inclination as to what to do to get it really corrected. Rather than going through the frustration experienced the last time I returned it I believe I'll follow the advise to get a competition trigger from Sharp Shooter Supply and replace it my self. If I have a problem with it I'll drive up to Bakersfield and have fjold install #4. beerroger

How old is it? Some of the early Accu-triggers had softer metal parts in them. Supposedly this was corrected after 18 months or so. I had one of the early ones, and it felt gritty. The later one I have is actually pretty good.

It was an early accutrigger and yes the sear was rounded. I'm not sure what the factory did to correct it but it wasn't effective. I ordered the replacement competition trigger this morning. It is being shipped today and the instructions are being E-Mailed. tu2roger beer

AccuTrigger - Bad = 1 vote
Accutrigger - Good = 8 Votes

In re-reading every post in this thread, I see only one actual performance complaint about the AccuTrigger, and that complaint comes from Roger himself. On the other hand, I see 8 posts from people who have no problems with the AccuTrigger on their rifles. I also see a lot of non-relevant posts by the AR gad-flys.

one vote in nine is 11.111 %.....If this is anywhere near a true reflection of Savage quality it would be deemed a disaster by any company's definition that I ever knew of....

Company s that still operate on an "AQL" limit operate on a 98+ % level

If you operate an airline a 2% crash rate would kill the business immediately.....

If Savage actually is operating at a 89% level it has come up a very long ways......and is still unacceptable in my eyes!

FYI it was also used on Ruger varmint rifles back in the '80s and maybe even into the '90s.....
