Very old rifle.

I am cleaning it up and will shoot it.

Will be interesting to see how it works.

Is it the old hogback stock with the near vertical grip and set trigger?

This one does not have a set trigger.

Shot a few groups at 100 yards, and was not too impressed.

Rifle tended to throw the shots wider as it warmed up.

I am going to bed it properly and free float the barrel.

A bit of a disappointment..

I had two factory ammo, PPU and Hornady.

Shot 5, 5 shot groups with each, before I bedded the action and after.

Tried a few reloads, not much better.

PPU factory ammo before bedding.

I have an Anschutz single shot in 22 Hornet.

I am going to try a few experiments with it.

I will post results once I am done.

The Hornady looks like the ticket.

I had a Krico 22 Hornet that shot standard 40-45gr sp’s only so-so…not impressive anyway. But when I loaded the little 35gr Hornady V-Max bullet it turned into an honest sub-MOA rifle. Shot incredibly well w/ that little bullet. Win 296 MIGHT have been the powder, just over 10grs if I remember correctly.

Shoot straight, shoot often.

Thanx for the pix. It seems to like the Hornady ammo post bedding.

Matt,
I had the same experience w/ my old Anschutz in .22 Hornet. It LIKES the lighter bullet..!

++++
The older 22 Hornets had a 1-16" twist while the newer sport a 1-14" twist heavier bullets and or longer bullets may not be the answer

I’m sure it was the slower 16 twist, but the bullets I shot were the old short ‘Hornet’ bullets also…just remember with this stubby 35gr bullets that rifle came alive and was pretty impressive.

Shoot straight, shoot often.
