I would like to find a good gunsmith that has the reamer and gauges that could chamber and install a barrel in 25 souper, i have been unable to locate any with the reamer.

Fred Huntington, who started RCBS, had a machine shop that did this type of work years ago in Oroville California, I even had a 257 Roberts rechambered to a 25-06 there or at least at it's successor. But I couldn't find a web referrence to send you. Maybe this one will help.

Shawn Thomplson in Craigmont, Idaho chambered mine. He can do either the standard or a 40* AI.

BTW, I used a Rem. 25/06 take off barrel, cut 1 1/2ins. off the chamber end and it's worked out just fine. If I remember correctly he charged me $100. About 6-8 weeks turn around time.

I had mine made with the standard chamber not the 40* AI. Do a search on the 25 Souper here on AR. About 8 months ago there was a discussion on the Souper and I listed some loads. Pete

When doing the search for the 25 Souper look on the small calibre board. That's where I listed some loads. Also the old (#4) Speer Wild Cat manual list loads for the 25 Souper.

Two thoughts
1. this is not an unusual wildcat and the chambering reamer isn't a lot more money than the cost of shipping the barreled action to someone and back. Just buy the reamer and have it done locally.

In the end sell the reamer in the AR classifieds.

2. I might be wrong here but I think the headspace gage is the same as the .308 etc.

While I've had several AI's mine havn't always fed the best. Another thing I have found is that you only gain about 100fps. over the standard cartridge, and this do mostly to increased pressure. The only real gain with an AI is not having to trim as often.
The Souper is really no better then a standard 257 Roberts except I like it better in the short Sako mine is built on. Same goes for the SA Rems. I changed the feeding rails on one short Sako and have always regretted it. Worked fine with the AI But I decided to go back to a standard cartridge and it's not so slick.

If you follow the link to 257DGR on my web page you can get an idea of some loading data for the 25 Souper, it and the 257DGR are very close in case capacity.
I went with the 257DGR mainly due to the longer neck and 30 degree shoulder.

masterifleman, if a gun smith tells me no because he does not have the reamer, and they are that easy to obtain, i would just rather let someone do the work that has all the tools.

Look in the A Square reloading manual, the .25 souper is listed there. You can form brass form .243 Win. That's the easiest way, a one pass neck up. Or neck down .308 Win., 7mm-08, .260 Rem. etc. I have dealt with Shawn in Craigmont...an excellent fellow to do business with!
