I've never heard of this and wouldn't think it was a good idea. I would load the case like you suggested and shoot in the gun. Fireing it in the chamber should form the case to your chamber. Don't do this inside. Even a wax bullet can still go through a pile of rags, a couple of pine boards, cealing tiles and a fluorescent light. The wife was not pleased!

Even if it was safe (or would work in the first place) a casefull of cornmeal shot out of your press at your ceiling would tend to make the reloading bench a bit 'messy'
