Has anyone ever taken the .500 Nitro Express (3") And necked it down to exept .41 bullets. I figure that since alot of people used the .41 Mag in handgun for deer that something like this might intrest you .41 fans. What is the estimation of ballistics from something like this? In my mind it just sounds like a deer thumper. Thanks for your input! [Smile]

Isn't this the round that Krieghoff intoduced for their double rifles. I think they reverse the sequence in Europe and the cartridge is called the .500/.416. If this is what you mean, it will drive a 400gr bullet at 2400 fps of MV.

If you mean .411 rifle bullets, the 450/400 Nitro 3-1/4in, 3in, and 2-3/8in have been around for over 100 years. Veocity with the 3-1/4 was near 2100 with cordite and a 400grn bullet. If you are suggesting 170 to 220grn pistol bullets, I think you would find the bullets would disinegrate at those velocities.
