Would a .270/.300 WM reamer be enough to rechamber up from the standard .270 Weatherby?

yes, and so would a 270 weatherby.. and a factory 270 wsm is the same thing, which can be bought for less than the reamers, dies, and barrel work

Thanks.

I guess my query wasn't quite clear enough.

I can get a nice .270 weatherby at a good price. However, I don't want a .270 weatherby.

If I run a .270/300 WM reamer into the .270 roy chamber will I be able to remove the existing shoulder area completely. Is this workable or should I just look at getting a new barrel already chambered.

I want something that will give me a bit more than the .270 roy or WSM. 150 - 160 grain bullets at around 3300 to 3400 fps.

Or perhaps 7mm RUM case shortened for 30-06 length action and necked down to .270.

Basically, I am looking for the same performance as the 7mm STW but in a .270 in a 30-06 length action.

Toad,

Its a bit extra work, but go with your shortened RUM! You're basically creating a 7mm Dakota without the larger head (.545 I think?) with very commonly available brass.

Sorry I meant to say you'd be creating a .270 Dakota, if they made one

alrighty a google search lead me back to THIS site! look in the reloading section, it has the 270 Dakota, this will pretty much be the same round. At least you can judge the outcome vs what you want

th,

Sure looks like it will work to me thumb:

270 Weatherby

300 Winchester Mag

PS: Good luck. I think it will make a heck-of-a 270!
