I have designed a .358 sort of like the .358 Gremlin, but not exactly just to give you a sense of scale.

I'm ready to drop the hammer so to speak on the chamber reamer. I have developed the chamber drawing and Cartridge drawing by following what has been done with other similar sized cartridge using the SAAMI specifications.

So here's my question: How much smaller in the critical diameters should the reamer for making the FL sizing die be in comparison to the cartridge critical diameters? About a .001 seems right to allow for spring back, but I'm not 100% certain.

I would talk to the reamer maker - they will have more insight on this than nearly anyone else.

I do prefer dave manson

Rusty,

man, it is really good to see you posting here again.

Jeffeosso gave you good advice.

Mine, based on what Keith Francis (became JGZ) and Dave Manson told me about twenty-five years ago; were to always have the rough reamer sized for FL resizing, and the finish for case mouth expanding and bullet seating.

Dave Manson is the person I would talk to.

We need to talk about those Rigby peeps that you build.

One thousandth is not enough; as stated, ask the reamer maker; they usually want you to send them a dummy cartridge with a bullet seated where you want it; they will grind the reamer from there. Or send a drawing. On both chamber and sizing reamers. You use the chamber reamer for the seater die so you need two reamers.
I use both PTG, and Dave Manson.

I don't know why I didn't think to call my favorite reamer guy first, homer.

.0035 to .004 on diameter is what he recommends for auto loaders and .002 to .003 for bolt guns.

Thanks for waking me up.

Found you! Do you have a website or another way to contact you about a couple peep sights?

Phone number would be great. PM me if you prefer.

I haven't made any sights in a couple of years.
Too many competing priorities.
I did send the drawings to a CNC house a couple weeks back though to see how horrible the cost would be to have them make the sights for me.

I'll try and keep you posted.
