Question:
I've noticed in "Cartridges of the World" a 416 wildcat on the 284 case. It supposedly achieves 2475fps with a 300 gn projectile. I wonder how a 375 on the 284 case would do?
Load from a disc suggests nearly 2200fps with a 300gn pill from the 284 case and 2400fps with a 235gn. Those specs should take the smile off a feral pigs face.
Has anyone any experience with a wildcat on this case?
thanks Malcolm56

Mic McPherson who takes "credit" for the .416/284 (he's a lefty and likes the Win 88) evidently has shot one quite a bit. Suggest you contact him directly. He's a real hoot to talk to and as knowledgable as anyone you will ever find about ballistics.

His phone number is in the front of "Precision Shooting" magazine as he is one of the many "staff writers'.

If you're not restricted to a short action have you considered a 376 steyr? Should do more than just wipe the smile off the pig's face. Paul.

Gidday Ray, yeah I know about this one, this combo at this stage is the wildcat most achievable here in Australia. Most Oz gunsmiths have a 300/338 Win reamer that can fit my requests. I'll keep the forum posted on my success, whichever way I go.!!!!
