I've owned 6 swedes in my time, m38's, m96's and 1 AG42b. I had one of the m38's assembled by a gunsmith who hardness tested the action and gave it the full "checkover". I loaded that one pretty hot( sometimes 3-4 gns over book maxes) and never had one problem with gun or ammo or reloading the cases.I know for what I want to do,a 6.5x55 would probably do, but I've been down that road.I want something different, not too hard to do, accurate and with a little more oomph! I dont want a magnum, or any other real barrel burner for that matter, just a nice shooting rifle.

I have a 6.5-06AI (40 degree) and love it. With RL22 and a 140 a-max out of a PacNor 1:8, 26" barrel I get almost 3100fps with great accuracy.

I neck up the 25-06,they are the same length of the 30-06 and not longer like the 270.But of course you can cut them down if you wish to do an extra operation.
Also with the 25-06 you do not need to ream the inside of the necks like you should do when you bring 30-06 down to 6.5.
