Hornady introduced the 7 PRC which seems to be very similar to my 7x57 Mag (they did the custom dies for entire family of x57 Mags, 6.5,7, .30, 8, 9.3, 9.5). The 8x57 Mag and the 9.3x57 Mag were my favorites of the group. I got some 7 PRC and pulled the bullets and ran the case through the reloading dies and trimmed. So much easier that the whole forming process from 375 Ruger brass. The forming process had made me lose a bit of interest, but now I'm ready to have some fun with them again. The original threads of the development are listed below.

Yes, had every reamer drawing and fired cases to make the custom dies.

Also like the 8mm and put together a 323 Hollis Imp. Still early in load development, but so far impressed. Good groups with 220 grain pills and H4350 as notated in Ackley's book.

what are the ballistics? What fps can you drive a 200 gr bullet?

I guess it's slimmer than a 325 WSM and the 8x68s is longer than a standard 30-06 length box and has a bigger diameter rim.

I have an 8x57 (two of them) and need to finish my 8x68s (On a ZG47).

The snow stopped my range activities but 71 gr. of 4350 gave me a five shot group of just over an inch with an average 2930fps. 200 grain with 73.5gr averaged 3080fps. These are not max loads.. brass looked good. Will resume development in the spring.

I used IMR 4895 for load development with a 200 grain Woodleigh. My case forming process was on a learning curve at the time and I got a max velocity of 2886. I leaned toward the 220 grain bullets, so stop with the 200's. I got 220's at 2715 fps. Killed a bull elk with that load, good performance. Case forming and overall capacity I think will improve as the case thickness was quite heavy shortening the 375 Ruger case. It is really quite easy now and I will begin to test loads with the better cases when I get some brass, which is on order. The links below the original post details the development process.

Will be laddering H4350 as well as some slower powders to see how it affects velocity. I could be hppy with what I've seen already.... just curious. The Hammer 221 gr so far have been much more accurate than 220 gr Sierras.

Ny altime favorite 8mm was the 8mm/06 Ackley IMP, hard to improve on that one, but like any wild cat if was a pain after a while..so sent it down the road. It was a fun project sorta since it started life as an 8x57, grew into an 8x60, and ended up a 8x57 Ackley Imp and boy was that a stomper on deer and elk with a 160 gr. TTSX at 3000 FPS plus..The rifle was a Brno mod 21 with a broken, and repaired beat to hell stock. I fixed it up refinished the stock, big mistake some guy had to have it, and got it of course..

This was in the year of 2000, today in 2023 I purchased a high dollar Jp sauer and sons inmint condition and 110% original in 8x57. It shoots great with the irons and 160 gr Barnes tSX tipped, no d&T,,I have a world of respect for the old 8x57JS with a good handload, it rates beside the 30-06 plus a tad..Its close to hunting season and sighted in..deer,bear or elk on the menu
