Necked down my 8x57 mag and I have the rifle now and just fire formed some brass today. Will work on loads soon and everything is working well. Will list load results as I get them worked up. Merry Christmas all. Thanks.

What is a 8x57 Mag? I know of an I, IR, IRS, IS, PCC, R, and Mauser but not a Magnum.

I shortened the 375 Ruger to 57mm to specifically work in a Mauser 98. It is documented in a thread below. Worked very well this deer season, a little overkill for whitetail, though.

The cold has dampered things. But got my 9.3x57 Mag prototype firing with fireforming loads of cream of wheat. Waiting for dies to get it going. I think it might be my favorite of the bunch. Happy New Years everyone?

Finally warmed up enough to go shoot. Did an initial load work up. I used Hornady data from the 7mm Rem short action ultra mag as a guide and started below their starting load and was conservative. There is more capacity left after the max load I shot today. Will go beyond that next time out to the range. The loads were a 154 Hornady Interlocks and I was using IMR 4831. Results are for a three shot group average and are as follows: 48 grains 2247 fps 50 grains 2328 fps 52 grains 2511 fps 54 grains 2711 fps 56 grains 2763 fps 57 grains 2789 fps 58 grains 2859 fps I think it will perform right along with the other 7 mags and is right where I wanted it to be. Thanks.

Worked up to 60 grains of IMR 4831 and got to 3000 fps. Will start on loads for 160 and 175 bullets. I think it works well, but the 7mm space is pretty crowded. I think the 9.3 version might be the best of the bunch, if it will duplicate the 9.3x64, waiting on dies.
