I've often wondered if anyone has tried to develop a 7mm,30 or 338 cal based off a 404 Jeffery case with a case length of around 2.50".I would think the 7mm would be like a 7STW,the 30 cal like a 300 Weatherby and the 338 like a 340 Weatherby.

Look at the Dakota rounds. There´re a 7mm, a .300, a .330 and a .404 Dakota, with case lenghts between 2,5 and 2,57".

The Dakotas. Jeffe built his ARs using a RUM (based on the feffery) case and left them 2.55. The Ruger would be darn close but they are 2.58

As usual just my $.02

BOOMI've designed and built a 8mm .404 X 2.5" IMP. Performance is just a little better than a 30-06. It drives a 150 grain bullet at 3150 fps. 185grain at 2970 fps. Frowner
The neck length is .495". Should have made it .425" or even a little less. beerroger

As well as a .375... Nice rounds, good performance and not overbore till sub-30 caliber. Loaded rounds and brass are available directly from Dakota and through a number of the online superstores.

Yes, sorry, I forgot this round. It´s also listed in the Hornady reloading manual.

Mine are 2.55 case -- .050 doesn't make a difference -

i didn't go smaller than .416 - the rest of the area is pretty crowded.

.458 capacity in mine is about 112gr of capacity .. so, HUGE!

good luck

It would be more practical to use the 375 or 416 Ruger case, close to what you want and case forming and case availability would be much easier and less expensive..That is basically what the case is anyway with a minor change.
