I've got a Husqavarna 7mm rem magnum thgat has headspace issues and the barrel is probably shot out. The action is smooth as silk and it was a good shooter in its day. Is the Husky a good platform for a custom deer rifle in 6.5 wsm. The barrel would be twisted for the 140 gr MK from sierra and the long action would allow it to be a repeater. The gun is sitting in the safe doing notta since the 300 wm bought several years ago for elk. any ideas ? I'd like it to be an honest 1/2 moa out to 500 yards

You realize you're getting into making it paying for feeding, a new barrel, custom dies etc.
If that doesn't bother you, have fun! Talk to your 'smith about barrel suitability.

sell it to me cheap and i'll turn it into an AR rifle... probably a 458

it would be WAY too much hassle to so a .264WSM for about 600additioal bucks over a 277 WSM.. and neither will be wonderful in a 98, due potentially to pressure... after all, unless the barrel was screwed up going on, it might be the loads that wrecked the action

If you really want a shooter (1/2 moa) sell the husky. Use the money to buy a SS syn. Rem. 700 in .270 WSM. The tupperware stock must go down the road. Go with quality stock that isn't going to shift - Brown, Highteck, McMillan (even a medelist B&C is going to be superior to the tupperware). Have the action trued, then a quality 6.5 barrel - Krieger, Lilja, etc. - screwed on and chambered. You don't need a bull barrel, but if you want consistent 1/2 moa, you're not looking for a buggy whip either - maybe a #4 countour or there abouts. Remember to do all the other little things along the way like changing the recoil lug, trigger, etc.

I know that I want a 6.5 WSM just like this.

You don't always have to spend $2-3k for excellent accuracy.
My son's Rem 721 30-06 will shoot under 1/2" with 165 Rem Corelokts at 2730fps(60gns RL22, CCI LR primer in Rem brass).

I have a nice little Husky in 270 with 20" bbl that weighs around 7#(ish), I'm not really a 270 fan. The gun was supposed to be for a truck driving buddy that wanted me to find him a good 270. I didn't realize that he wanted something absolutely spotless, so it's still sitting in the safe. Now I just need the motivation to put an interesting barrel on it so I can go shoot it.
