I started in 1991 with a 6.5/06, it was nice and very accurate, Hart barrel, Rem 700 action, I soon learned about the Ackley version and HAD to have not 1 but 2 of those, one with a fluted #5 and a #7. I still have these, I soon bought a Remington Classic in 264 WM that did it, I soon had my own reamer made for the correctly throated Min sammi 264 WM. It is king of the 6.5`s in my safe. I am having a "F" class rifle built in 6.5/284. The Win Mag is a great hunting round, pushing the Sierra 140`s to 3278 avg with Hodgdons Retumbo.

I went through this and decided on the taaadaaa Sweede! I just don't think the little extra, 100-15fps, merrit the extra trouble. If you built a sweede and it wasn't enough you could always rebore to a 6.5x284. My $.02, capt david

Check out the ballistics of the 6.5-06. It's actually quite a screamer. I think the 264 Win is a dandy, though a wee overboard on the powder for me. That '06 case just creeps up and kisses the line of "too big" for that caliber. Simple as rebarreling an '06, or just as ubiquitous 270.
