411!

MileHighShooter411!
How about taking Lazzeroni's case a step smaller? They use the 416 Rigby case for their line of cartridges. Less opening up on the bolt face.
If you think every possible niche has been filled already, thank a wildcatter!

boom stickRigby and Jeffery are about the same size rim. The Jeffery has a serious rebate but if you single stack it it will be fine. .575" on the Jeffery and .590" on the Rigby
the Lazzeroni have about a .582" casehead and rim. Same as the Wby. The Jeffery will give you about 40 thou bigger casehead

See if you can lob those around 1600 FPS
Neck the 1.6" Jeffery case down to 411 and I bet you got the littlest big bore DG rifle there ever was
I would love to see if this could work on an AR15

MileHighShooterAre you thinking 2+1 in a wssm action?

What is the length of a wssm mag?
I was doing some looking, and like the 300 RCM at 2.100...............if you need more length, the the 375 ruger case.........not a big fan of rebated rims.
OK..........what is a B&M [416B&M] refer too?

boom stickWSSM 2.3" magazine right?
15 January 2009, 09:39
boom stickTrim and stuff this bad boy with a 577 .585" bullet @ 2.1" short action or 1.65" super short and you have a nice pumpkin roller...
I would be quite curious to see the capacity at both lengths.

MileHighShooterMoreBS - The B&M series of wildcats were created by Michael458. The B&M's are based on RUM cases cut down to fit in M70 WSM actions, which are 3.1" and a bit longer then most WSM/short mag actions (most are 2.9") his B&M Super Shorts...are made for wssm actions.
Boom - yes, 2.3" is the COAL. I don't have a wssm action to measure, so I'm not sure if thats just COAL, or the magazine length as well. I'm guessing the magazine box is probably like 2.4"

MileHighShooter, have you thought of resurecting something like the 40-70 Sharps? (But in 41-70). That case makes me wonder where James Paris Lee got his 303 case design from.

Since you have gotten me thinking on 41's and 303 wildcats, the idea of a 303 Brit case cut off at the shoulder and made into a 41 is very appealing to me for a carbine round.

ramrod340Well since you are posting 411s. Here are a pair of 400PDKs one with a 300 other with a 400gr. With a 338-06, 375Whelen and 375 H&H along side.
As usual just my $.02

My 40-90, 411x240 and 375x240
The 40-90 is basically a 400 H&H.....300 grain at 2500 fps.........used a Pac-Nor barrel......my first rifle to shoot a three shot group under 1/4" at 100 yds......Ruger #3
Haven't made the 375 version, but have the reamer and reloading dies.

Mk 1's are my favourite. I just bought a barrelled action. I hope it still has its bolt dust cover. If not, I will make one for it. Depending on the condition of the barrel (it
is over a hundred years old) I will either lap it out to a 8mm or ream it out to 411! (Or 375 and keep the case taper). Either way, it gets shortened to 18" or so.

303GuyOn the subject of 411's, I can get some 7x57 rimmed cases (they can be ordered too) and I was just thinking that to make better use of the length of the Lee Enfield action, if I were to use the 57 case with its slightly larger body, I could create a longer 411 straight taper cartridge. Just 'thinking out loud'.
