.500 Whelan ???
I'm in the process of building a rifle chambered in .400 Whelen and was searching the web for information. I came across this on another forum:

while it is POSSIBLE to have a bullet larger than case .....

the spec case of a 06 is ~12mm
the .500 bulet is 12.7mm

Yes, I know. But I se they called it Whelan and not Whelen. Is there any other cases which could have been used, what about Newton cases? It just seemed to be an interesting caliber.
