What well known commercial and wildcat cartridges are based on the full 30-30 case? I know one could always create wildcats of any caliber, but I wondered which have names attached to them.

How about the same question for the .405 Winchester?

I'm working up loads for a round called 6.5mm BRM which is a 30/30 case necked to 6.5mm, almost no taper, sharp shoulder, and 1 cal neck. The rifle is a Ruger #3 that was re-barreled from a 45/70 by EABCO.
So far I'm getting (with a 26" barrel) about 2450fps with 140g Hornadys and almost 2800 with 120g Sierra's. It's not a "well known wildcat" but I thought I'd throw it in anyway.

How about some of the things like Donaldson Wasp?

As far as 405 W goes - someone told me that it was an isolated case, didn't really belong to a "family" - I had thought the 30-40 Krag had some connection.

401 Herter's was made from 30-30 brass (and eventually was commercialized as the 41 Remington Magnum...modified from the original).

I have wondered about using the full length 30-30 with 10mm bullets (much like an extended 401 Herter's).

Well the 7-30 Waters started as a wildcat but someone (Win?) legitimized years ago.

The Wasp is actually based on the Zipper case and is shorter than the 30-30. Actually, depending on how far you want to stretch your definition, all of the Zipper, 22 Hi-Power, 25-35, 38-55, etc. cases and wildcats could be said to be in the 30-30 family.

The 405 case is a lot longer than the 30-40 and brass has become somewhat of a collectors item so you won't find a lot of wildcats based on the original brass. You will find another whole series of wildcats based on the 30-40 though. There is no end to wildcatting.
