Anyone here ever taken a 300WM or a 338WM and necked it up to 9.3? Seems like it would be an easy conversion. Looks like a pretty good big game round. Interested in your comments if anyone has done this.

Thanks

Yes, interesting. Such a wildcat might almost achieve the performance of one of the common 9,3 mms. What an achievement :-)

Some day, an enterprising soul will take a 7x64 and will neck it up to .30 - and the shooting & hunting world will never be the same... ROTFL.

I have had the same thought. It would be like a 9.3x64 only with affordable brass. I think I would start with .458 brass. Same end result but easier to neck down than up.

Yes, it was called the 9.3 American. A 300 Win Mag case necked up to 9.3. I had one for awhile, it was an interesting cartridge, about the same ballistically (in the ball park anyway) as the 9 X 64. - Dan

Charlie Sisk over on www.24hourcampfire.com recently had a thread about what he calls the 9.3 Sisk which is an 8mm Remington Manmum necked up with all else being the same. Most of all his data is on the site if you run a search.

I'm pretty sure the 8mm and .338 are on the same case, it's been a while since I looked at the big boys [Smile] !

big problem in 9.3 is to find strong bullet most of them are design to expand under 9.3x74 or 9.3x62 velocity not with magnum

same problem with the good 358 Norma , difficult to finf bullet design for magnum velocity

9.3x64 is a very good african cartridge when loaded whith strong bullet but case are costly .

338 RUM neck up to 9.3 can perhaps make some thing nice without belt

good shooting

Acually the 8mm Remington magnum uses the full length H&H case, while the 300 and 338 Winnies use a shortened version. A 9.3x338 Win sounds like a good idea. A little more oompf than the x64, but not to much.

How about the WSM case? Someone suggested it the other day and it sounded interesting to me. Should be about the same as the 9.3x64, but I'm not real familiar with the specs for it either [Smile] .
