Unless there is a good reason to use the 284 brass why not just go with the .376 Steyr? Jason

To each his own, but There's plenty of room in the 98 Mauser for the '06 case. Ballistics would be about the same, with an edge toward the '06 I'd imagine. Cases are easier to find, feeding much simpler.... But if you're looking for ballistics, I'd say the 250g might go around 2650. The '06 improved, with a 26" bbl may easily top 2700 in safe loads.

dont know on the straight cases off the top of my head but many companies sell it in a variety of parent stamps just for wildcats and special chambers. do a quick search and you will find some............... the 06' sounds like a cheaper and better suited solution to your quest...... woofer

It would probably better to use the '06 or 350 Rem Mag. case in a std mauser action because you will probably have feeding issues with the rebated .284 rim. The best option for a mauser is to go with the .375 Taylor which would maximize the length of the mauser action.

323 do you have a .338-284 by any chance. I am thinking of having one built for a light weight scrub gun but need a bit more info than I currently have.
