375-284
I need some info if anyone has any info on this round. I would be building it on a std 98 mauser action. Thanks

wooferdont have exact numbers but 350 rem mag velocities should be ballpark. my smith had a dummy round and i asked. his customer was buying straight 284 brass and necking down. no load info for ya' though.........

Don't want to sound like a dumb ass, but where would one by straight 284 cases? Now I'm thinking about a 375 Whelen Imp. But would like a 375-284.

sharps54Unless there is a good reason to use the 284 brass why not just go with the .376 Steyr?

Bwana-beTo each his own, but There's plenty of room in the 98 Mauser for the '06 case. Ballistics would be about the same, with an edge toward the '06 I'd imagine. Cases are easier to find, feeding much simpler....
But if you're looking for ballistics, I'd say the 250g might go around 2650. The '06 improved, with a 26" bbl may easily top 2700 in safe loads.

wooferdont know on the straight cases off the top of my head but many companies sell it in a variety of parent stamps just for wildcats and special chambers. do a quick search and you will find some...............
the 06' sounds like a cheaper and better suited solution to your quest......

jnc91It would probably better to use the '06 or 350 Rem Mag. case in a std mauser action because you will probably have feeding issues with the rebated .284 rim. The best option for a mauser is to go with the .375 Taylor which would maximize the length of the mauser action.
I have several wildcats based on the 284 and the issue of feeding isn't one on the 98.
323 do you have a .338-284 by any chance.
I am thinking of having one built for a light weight scrub gun but need a bit more info than I currently have.
Negative that is my next project I have the barrel just have to find another action. I have a 6mm-284, 25-284, 6.5-284 and a std 284 I want to build a 270-284 also along with the 35-284.
