is the 416 aagaard more powerful than the 411 hawk?

also what is the most big bore bang you can fit in an 06' action???

this makes me think again how much more versitile my 411-aagaard idea would be....180 to 400 grain slugs. also has anyone done the 358-aagaard??? another wildcat idea feather in my hat sofa good pistol bullets on up to 310 gr woodleighs!

Boom,

the only one who could answer that with any authority would be Mr. Zeglin. I'd say that the Aagaard is marginally more powerful, it's just Zeglin's take on a concept a customer wanted to make and they thought Finn Aagaard would have approved. ( and I hope I haven't misquoted Mr Zeglin here )

Since old Finn would have probably approved of the .416 it wears his name. I liked the old boys writing and figure it's kind of a tribute.

If you have a hankering for a .376 necked down to .358, you're probably free to call it the .35 Boom or .411 Stick or what ever yer mind can devise. thumb

The 416 Aagaard has the tiniest advantage, 10 to 20 fps, statistically thats a '0'.

416 Taylor is probably the most powerful cartridge for standard length actions (it does use a magnum bolt face. 411 Hawk is the most you can get out the the 06 case. Now that I said that someone will point out something bigger. Roll Eyes

Then there is the nasty detail of twist rate to deal with.

Jeeez Boom you took the words right out of my mouth. I have a FN Mauser '06 that I was thinking about rebarreling to a .416 Taylor or maybe Hawk. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

the poster fred zeglin is the creator of the hawk carts...post the question on the gunsmithing board and duck sofa if you are considering the 416 taylor you might want to consider the 416 a.r. do a search on the a.r. carts. 416, 458 and 470. jeffeosso is the creator and is making a 470 a.r. for me. the 470 a.r. is the biggest bore and bang you can get without spending too much in smithing 500 grains @ 2300+ fps. you have to ask yourself what parameters and preferences you have. post them and you will get more input than you wanted.
