Thanks Doug.
The range work today went well. The accuracy wasn't all that great but load developement was OK.

Stayed on the mild side with various bullets useing 2400 and T680.Got up to 3150 fps with 34 grain HP Varmint Nite Mares, 3000 fps + with 40gr.FBHP Berger's 2600 FPS. with 52gr. FBHP Berger's.and 2570 FPS. with 50gr. Rem. sp

The el cheapo 50gr. Rem.sp were MOA mostly: some loads a little larger.

The rimless inovation that were fire formed gave a 5 shot 1/2" group at 50 yds.

The rimless as depicted with telescopeing shoulders was done with Butch Lamberts bushings. In the group of three showing less corragation the two on the ends were the fire formed cases done at intentionly lower pressure. They will have better appearance next time out.
The rifle loads, fires and ejects both the rimed and rimless versions thanks to the Magic of Jim Kobe.

The rimless were made from .223 RP cases

The rimed were made from PPU cases , whatever that is and has a 1 cc useable capacity.

Remington Rimed Jet cases have a 1.08 cc capacity. Did not fire any of these today.

will continue to climb the ladder to establish resonable max. loads and most preferential bullet and powder combinations.

HEY I had a great day today topped off with a cheeseburger. I also want to take this opportunity to congradulet Millers on their 64 calory LITE beer. Will be glad to field any questions!

roger
PS Thanks again ,Doug

boom stickWhy not an improved rimless version AKA 22 Bartsche?
Maybe shorten 221 fireball dies and use fireball reamer.

Have at it Boomy

AKA Improved Boomy.

Oh!!!! the rimless version has a case capacity of .86 cc, 14% less than the rimmed PPUs?
They are sweet little cases and I'm not sure that Improved has any real meaning here.

Will contiue to report on range findings.

303GuyI wonder how the jet would perform with Lil'Gun unconstrained by the original pressure specs.

jplThat looks interesting, thanks for posting up. So how would this compare to the 221 Firball? Isn't that basically a shortened 223 also?

Yes and maybe. It is possible that the .221 was a necked down .222.

The .221 has a published capacity of 1.43cc as apposed to 1cc of the Jet.

Would it be easier to chuck .22 Jet brass in a lathe and turn the rims off?

If I ha access to alath*** Perhaps. Now if I were tring to make a 38 speial rimless I think that would be my approach and. Starting with a 38 special of course.

The 221 isn't a necked down anything. It's a shortened something - 222 I think but the cases can be made from 223 too. It uses a .224 bullet as the 222 and 223 does. Go figure!

jplHow is the fire forming going? Did you get the pressures up high enough to fully form the cases?

Got most of the wrinkles in the cases out today but not 100%. Am taking a different path by thining out the rimless brass a bit. Will document what is done and make it available in about twoo weeks. What I saw today looks really promising. Weshall see.
