just bought this and awaiting arrival. Daystate Air Ranger 80 in .22 cal. 60ftlb gun with extensive internal modifications and custom stock and silencer. took a while for me to decide if i liked the green stock but (like a fungus) it grew on me! at least it isn't your everyday pellet gun!!

It'll shoot fine ... as long as you resist the urge to try any BBs in it.

Daystate Air Ranger arrived 2 days ago, sighted it in yesterday. shoots 21 gr pellets at about 52 ftlbs with 3/4 inch groups at 50 yards. previous owner had warned me that it gets best accuracy/power combo with heavy( 25 gr. or heavier) pellets, so ordered some last night. shoots 18 gr. pellets with almost the same accuracy and POI as the 21 grainers but noticeably louder, since they where going supersonic. gun is amazingly quiet considering the power level but is still louder than my Airwolf. not a big surprise though since power level is 50% greater- and the Airwolf puts out about 37 ftlbs. all in all, this thing is a hammer.

off a bench but with a mild crosswind and a not-so solid rest- no bipod. i called each shot and when i made a good one, i knew it. gun is definitely more accurate than me!!

It would be worth sorting out 50 of whatever ammo you find works best.
All weighing the same and carefully checked for perfection.
Then see what it will really do.

since i am basically a hunter and not a target shooter, my goal is basically to shoot "angle of squirrel head" out to about 75 or so yards. i have ordered 25 gr. JSB Monsters and 32 gr. EunJins to see if accuracy is comparable to the 21 gr Barracudas without too big a drop in trajectory. one thing i discovered this past weekend- even the 18 gr JSB's will blow right through a ground squirrels head at 68 lasered yards.

I hear that ... but the long range "one hole" group is great fun and totally addicting.

and you'll have something to do when you run out of stuff to hunt Big Grin

follow up. the Nikko Sterling scope in the photos was just to big and heavy for hunting purposes. bought a Hawke 6-24x44 Varmint side focus last week, mounted it and sighted it in today. after running about 200 rounds through the gun on my rifle range, i retired to the front porch with the gun, a tripod and an adult beverage. 12 shots later i had 11 dead sparrows arrayed in front of me at ranges from 44 to 78 yards according to my range finder. this rifle/scope combo weighs a pound less than the previous scope/rifle combo and believe it or not- that pound makes a difference. the Air Ranger is a very QUIET HAMMER. at one point i killed 3 sparrows out of a flock before they realized something was going on and flew away. the red capped finches, wrens and house finches sure appreciated having the bird feeder to themselves.
